Liquid Retention Testing (Drop Testing)

Liquid Retention Testing (Drop Testing)

Eng Tech Services Water Management Ltd. undertake Liquid Retention Testing (Drop Testing / Integrity Testing) on Reservoirs, Tanks, Pumping Stations and Bunds in accordance with BS 8007:1987 and the EPA IPC Guidance Note on Storage and Transfer of Materials for Scheduled Activities.

Liquid Retention Testing (Drop Testing) also known as Integrity Testing is a requirements for all newly constructed Concrete Storage Tanks and Bunds to assess their structural integrity and mitigate against the risk of potentially polluting substances being discharged to the environment.

The test is carried out over a 7 day period following a stabilising period of 7 to 21 days depending on the design crack width.

The liquid level should be recorded at 24 hour intervals.

During the test period, the total permissible drop in level, after allowing for evaporation and rainfall, should not exceed 1/500 of the average water depth of the full tank, 10mm or another specified amount.

Testing is carried out in accordance with:

  • BS 8007:1987: Design of Concrete Structures for Containing Aqueous Liquids
  • EPA IPC Guidance Note on Storage and Transfer of Materials for Scheduled Activities (2004)

We cover all of Ireland including Cork, Waterford, Dublin, Limerick, Kerry, Carlow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Wicklow and Kildare.
